It's the WEEKEND!

Hi!

I haven’t posted for a couple of days because I’ve been busy at work – and then after, all I’ve felt like doing is walking in the evenings (beautiful!!!) to the sight of the sunset over the Seine, or reading while melting in the heat – but regrettably I have forgotten my camera each time – maybe I’m getting less touristy??? (yeah, right…I know.. - but, I was asked directions this evening – in French (but bad French) by two gentleman as I was walking to the sounds of my ipod (Melissa’s soundtrack to Paris) and watching the beat of the river – I answered in English (which they spoke) and directed them to the closest Metro stop – am I a pro or what???!) – so, sorry for the lack of gorgeous sunset pictures, you’ll have to trust me on this one – and I’ll post some soon hopefully.

But now the weekend is upon me (wooohooo) and I’ve got some plans for sightings and happenings which I’ll post about. A little hint: tomorrow, if the weather stays nice, I’m going to head over to the Montmartre neighborhood to take the suggested walk (as describes by Steves) and I’ll wind through the neighborhoods, look at the racy shops, Moulin Rouge, climb the steps of Sacre Coeur…etc, etc. I’ll fill you in tomorrow. Hopefully the sun will shine and the rain won’t dump. Tonight was pleasantly breezy and cool, which was well received by me because it’s been really humid, hot and stuffy recently. Another thing I’d like to do over the weekend is to see the Pompidou – the modern art museum – I’ve been looking forward to that. So, we’ll see what happens. I’ll post more pictures as well, I promise.
The pictures in this post are some random photos I've taken at different times. Julie (my friend from Eugene - for those of you who don't know) e-mailed me and asked me to take more pictures of food - so I thought I'd post a few that I had taken, but just haven't had the opportunity/reason to post yet. The little tarts are fabulous - I get those as part of a meal-deal with the meal tickets I get from the library. I go to a bakery and I can get a sandwich, a drink, and a dessert - I can never eat it all at one sitting, so I usually bring the dessert back to the foyer to eat for either breakfast or for an after dinner treat. Then there is a picture of a nice bottle of wine I bought (nice in the sense that it was very tasty, not nice in the very expensive terms) - and then there is a picture of some really good bleu cheese from a local formagerie. The rest of the pictures show you a little bit more of a glimpse into the foyer I'm staying at. There is the picture out of the window of my floor (near the kitchen) of the Eiffel Tower (where I watched the fireworks last weekend) and some other pictures of my hallway (the dark one) and my little refrigerator cupboard (locked).

I love you all and miss you.
Paris is so beautiful it gives me a lump in my throat.

M
